Hello reader!
So it’s exciting times down at the YTDL headquarters. I’m handing in my keys and am going to be taking a step back from the spotlight as of today. I’ve really enjoyed writing for and being a part of the blog and I’ve gotten to know the people I’ve been working with closely, but it’s now time for them to take over. I’ll still be in contact with them and able to have a peek at whats going on behind-the-scenes, to check that the cogs are still turning - but i will no longer be writing for or representing YTDL.
My main reason for taking this step back is to persue other things. It’s the summer and many of my friends are going to university soon, so it’ll be nice to see them as much as i can before they go. In addition, i am starting a new job soon and have a few other YouTube projects up my sleeve, so i would struggle with juggling the blog and everything else.
I leave you all in the reliable hands of the new YTDL 2.0 team!

Hello reader.
(Just a heads up, if you view this post on our actual Tumblr page HERE then you can see the embedded picture!).
So, I’ve decided to dedicate a small section of this Tumblr to posts about the setup, running and other “behind-the-scene” things to do with the website.
It’s the morning after the night before and I have a headache, feel sick & need sleep - but alas, there is work to be done. Last night i launched YTDL 2.0 and was immediately greeted by the uproar of an entire community. It brought back many memories of 1.0, most of which i didn’t particularly like, but nevertheless I think it’s safe to say that YTDL 2.0 has landed.
When devising the redesign of the concept with the YTDL team we all agreed: “Before , it was an ephemeral sixth form project with an anonymous host, now it’s a permanent website with a known poster”. This meant that many things had to change, some posts had to be deleted and other things were to be added. One thing that i regret not pushing when launching the website is this “change”, a different viewpoint that YTDL now represents. There are some evident changes to the site, such as the introduction of a “YouTube Featured” page - but it was evident last night that peoples idea of YTDL is still very negative. Fair enough, if i was outside looking in I’d probably hate the websites guts and want it ripped down - but I’d still give it a chance.
I need to restrict myself from turning this post into a lengthy monologue of rambling, but I hope this post has given you some food for thought (mmm, food). So I’ll leave you with my final thought: I’m so hungry.
